This doctoral research will deal with the scientific area of network optimization and new architectures in service-oriented computing. Our research focuses in optimization and management through new algorithms and study new application layer separation techniques, to support the fully distributed nature of current and future applications in both information systems, intranet networks and the web. Current systems are built into multiple layers of software, each with different configuration and maintenance needs which can be very demanding and often of prohibitive difficulty.
