The purpose of this research is to investigate the way in which primary school children construct the concept of citizenship.Children's constructions of citizenship will not be limited to the study of the linguistic semiotic system but it will also examine other modes of communication in the context of the classroom. In order to conduct the research it is assumed that the formation of children's subjectivity constitutes the subject of negotiation of a number of identities. This approach is based on the postmodern conception of the subject and in particular that of Foucault on the subject as "interacting» (Biesta 1998). Moreover the analysis of data from the interviews with the teachers are expected to elucidate some of the needs that exist with regard to the teaching of the subject of Civic and Political Education.
